The trees in the photo above are red mangroves in the Florida Everglades. The mangrove lives in saltwater and sustains itself by sipping brine through its tangle of slender roots. Mangroves convert saltwater into fresh water to sustain themselves, while exchanging carbon dioxide for oxygen so the rest of the planet can breathe. The principle underlying this blog is that we need to develop renewable energy technologies to sustain ourselves so that everyone can live a comfortable, dignified life and the rest of the planet can breathe.
